Colour codes for our bike inner tube
We have chosen to colour-code our different inner tubes, based on valve type. The colour codes can be found on the product images here on the website as well as on the product packaging in our stores. We have done this to make it easy for you to find the right valve type.
This is what the different colours mean:
- Blue Schrader
This is the most common valve on bicycles today. The Schrader valve is the same valve that is found on cars, and can be pumped at almost all filling stations.
- Green Dunlop
The Dunlop valve was used almost exclusively in the past and is also called the “English valve”. The Dunlop valve has the same diameter as the Schrader valve, and therefore fits the same valve hole.
- Orange Presta
The Presta valve is used on more advanced road bikes and mountain bikes where a higher tyre pressure is required. The valve is designed to measure the pressure in the bicycle tyre.
